MIGRATE FROM MAC TO WINDOWS MIXO V2
If you have been managing your music library on a Mac and want to move everything to a new Windows PC (or vice versa), MIXO provides several ways to migrate your data and files.
OPTION 1: CLOUD UPLOAD AND SYNC
This method uses your cloud storage to move your entire library.
- Install MIXO on your Mac, connect your cloud storage, and import your library.
- Allow analysis, upload, and sync to fully complete.
- Verify uploads by going to ALL TRACKS, right-clicking the headers, and adding the 'UPLOADED' column.
- If tracks are missing, select them, right-click, and choose 'UPLOAD TRACKS'.
- Install MIXO on your new PC and log in to sync your library data and artwork.
- Go to SETTINGS -> ADVANCED and set your 'DOWNLOAD FOLDER' to your preferred permanent location (e.g., the system Music folder).
- Go to SETTINGS -> CLOUD and toggle 'DOWNLOAD ALL TRACKS FROM CLOUD'.
- Once finished, go to SETTINGS -> DOWNLOADS and click 'CHECK DOWNLOADS' to verify.
- Go to SETTINGS -> CLOUD and click 'MAKE PRIMARY DEVICE'.
- Reset your download path to the system DOWNLOADS folder to keep future files separate.
OPTION 2: EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE
This is a faster method for large libraries as it skips the music upload step.
- Connect cloud storage (required for artwork sync).
- In SETTINGS -> ADVANCED, turn on 'SKIP UPLOAD TRACKS (USE EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE)' before importing on your Mac.
- Install MIXO on your new PC, log in, and ensure 'SKIP UPLOAD TRACKS' is also turned on there.
- Plug in your EXTERNAL DRIVE.
- Select all tracks in ALL TRACKS, right-click, and select 'RELOCATE TRACKS'. Select the outermost folder on your external drive to fix the file paths for Windows.
- Go to SETTINGS -> CLOUD and click 'MAKE PRIMARY DEVICE'.
- Turn off 'SKIP UPLOAD TRACKS' to resume normal operation.
OPTION 3: EXTERNAL DRIVE TO LOCAL STORAGE
Follow the steps for Option 2, but copy the music files from your external drive to your new PC's internal storage before performing the 'RELOCATE TRACKS' step.
