Missing Playlist - Exporting from MIXO to Serato

Are the tracks in the folder/playlists local or on another drive? Also does your computer have an Apple Silicon (M) or Intel processor?

It’s possible MIXO can’t read/write to the correct database at the time of export. The fix would be to disconnect and reconnect any external drives where possible, or restart your computer including MIXO, making sure nothing else is reading the drives before trying again. If it still doesn’t work let me know!

Hi Remko, thanks. I'm using a 2021 14-inch MacBook Pro with an Apple M1 Pro (Apple Silicon), 16 GB RAM, running macOS Sonoma 14.5.
My music library/tracks are stored on an external SSD named 7DUECE SSD. MIXO is also exporting the Serato crates to:
/Volumes/7DUECE SSD/Serato/Subcrates/
The strange part is that MIXO successfully creates the .crate files in that Subcrates folder, including the crates that aren't appearing in Serato. Some crates/subcrates from the same export appear correctly in Serato, while others don't, even though their .crate files are present on the SSD.
I have already restarted Serato and MIXO during troubleshooting, but I can do a full Mac restart with the external drive disconnected, reconnect the drive after startup, launch MIXO with Serato closed, and test another export.
Since the .crate files are being created successfully but only some are being read by Serato, could this be related to MIXO writing the legacy Subcrates files versus Serato 4's current database?

The Subcrates folder is actually redundant in Serato 4, although MIXO will still export to it in compatibility mode.

All the crates and tracks are now stored in a database on each drive where you have tracks.

You'll see a file here: 7DUECE/Serato/Library/location.sqlite - this should be updated during export, so check to see if the Modified time changes during export, which might give us some indication.

Remko, I tested this as requested.
Serato DJ Pro was completely closed. I exported my 7DUECE CRATES folder and its sub-playlists from MIXO with Compatibility Mode OFF.
Before the export:
/Volumes/7DUECE SSD/Serato/Library/location.sqlite
was 45.4 MB and last modified yesterday at 10:57 PM.
Immediately after the MIXO export, location.sqlite was still 45.4 MB but its modified time changed to today at 9:54 AM, confirming MIXO is writing to that database.
I then closed MIXO and launched Serato DJ Pro 4.0.10.
None of the exported crates or subcrates appear in Serato. The tracks themselves are visible in Serato, but the crate panel is completely empty.
So MIXO appears to be successfully modifying location.sqlite, but Serato 4.0.10 is not displaying the crate hierarchy written by MIXO.
I'm using a 2021 M1 Pro MacBook Pro, macOS Sonoma 14.5, and the tracks/database are on the external 7DUECE SSD.
Is there another Serato 4 database file that MIXO should be updating, or is there a known compatibility issue with the Serato 4.0.10 location.sqlite schema?

Ok thanks for checking that. In that case it must be an issue with the exported playlists, like incorrect order sequence or parent IDs maybe.

You could try adding a new playlist to MIXO, with a couple of tracks, which will appear at the top of the list. This will force all the others to refresh the order position, then export again to see if that magically fixes it.

You could also try exporting only that new root level playlist on its own.

If still no good, please send me the database you originally imported into MIXO I can try to replicate, or export your MIXO library to DJ XML if not.

You can upload your file here:
https://www.mixo.dj/uploads

Thanks!

That test produced a very interesting result.
I created a brand-new root-level playlist in MIXO called SERATO MIXO TEST and added 3 existing tracks.
With Serato closed and Compatibility Mode OFF, I exported ONLY that new playlist.
location.sqlite updated from 45.4 MB to 45.8 MB and its modified timestamp changed.
When I opened Serato, SERATO MIXO TEST appeared correctly at the root level with all 3 tracks.
However, something else happened: part of my existing 7DUECE CRATES hierarchy also suddenly appeared. The 7DUECE CRATES parent appeared along with three of its sub-playlists, but those three sub-playlists are empty and the remaining sub-playlists are still missing.
So creating/exporting the new root-level playlist appears to have caused part of the existing playlist hierarchy to refresh, which seems consistent with your theory about order sequence or parent IDs.
Since the brand-new playlist and its tracks export correctly, should I now export 7DUECE CRATES again, or would you prefer the database before I change anything further?

That’s great! I’d give the export another go.

Also, if it’s convenient you could actually try deleting all the crates you see first.

By the way, are you getting any errors on the export page for Serato?

By the way, are you getting any errors on the export page for Serato?
The only errors I'm seeing during export are a small number of individual tracks that still reference my previous Extreme SSD. I migrated from that drive to my current 7DUECE SSD, and apparently a few old paths remain in MIXO.
I'm not seeing any database, playlist, parent ID, or Serato-specific errors.
The new SERATO MIXO TEST playlist continues to work correctly in Serato with all 3 tracks, but re-exporting my existing 7DUECE CRATES hierarchy still does not make that hierarchy appear.
If you'd like, I can send you my MIXO database/library now so you can inspect the existing playlist hierarchy and parent/order IDs.

I've been noticing some errors and I think they are silent and cause MIXO to revert to compatibilityMode before the database export completes.

I'm not 100% sure how or why these errors occur because I can't replicate, but I'm attempting a fix and will send you a beta version later or tomorrow morning!

Ok, please try exporting again in this version:

Let me know if it's fixed!

Ok, i have 2.19.3 installed. No Joy...now I will say yesterday I was exporting 1 playlist at a time and got 95% of my crates back. Some are still not exporting over.

How did you originally import your library?

Is there anything you can send me, like an iTunes XML? Maybe I can figure out what's causing these silent errors during export!

0

So long story, I originally moved from iTunes to MIXO because I kept losing music so I moved. I have the Rane System One so MIXO allowed me to have 1 library and export to EngineDJ and Serato. For about a month or so everything was working fine until one day I did the export and tracks started missing each time. FInally got frustrated and thought that there was leftover issues from using iTunes. I totally blew out Serato and installed fresh (as MIXO is my main library at this point). I will attach my current iTunes XML. iTunes looks good, MIXO library is good. Since my iTunes is good. I just switched on "Show iTunes Library" and that's my current "workaround" the weird Serato Crates

I imported your large iTunes XML, thanks for that. I then exported to Serato. No errors and the result looks good. All the nested folders are there too!

58,139 tracks were successfully written, along with 456 folders and playlists, with over 109,000 playlist tracks. Quite a massive export and as far as I can see it's all there, in order.

If it helps, this is what I did:

1. Deleted all Serato databases first - location.sqlite on the USB drive and master+root in Application Support/Serato.
2. Deleted the Serato folder containing the old Subcrates folder in Music.
3. Launched Serato to rebuild the databases from fresh.
4 I then quit and exported from MIXO.

Hey Remko, Thanks. Yess, super huge library. Your nbr shows 58K, mine shows 56K & 62K. Give me a few I'll work on those steps to start Serato Fresh. Be in touch soon. Thank you so much for your assistance thus far.

That's understandable, I only imported your iTunes XML and nothing else, plus I had to rename my USB drive to match your paths. The discrepancy was probably local tracks on your computer or another drive which I don't have, so they would not get transferred to Serato.

Also, I think I can see the problem that was causing errors before...

After importing your XML I see 38 tracks with no filePath!! That would definitely have caused some issues - see attached. I recommend sorting by filePath and removing those.

Next release will no longer import tracks with broken filePaths, like just '/' :)

Weird that they're in your iTunes XML though, which they are, I checked!

We discovered an issue that prevents future in-app updates in the current beta versions.

Therefore, please download and install the latest version from the website:
