Engine DJ Export issue

Alexandre started this chat 4 months ago

Hi again!

Hey so when I try to export my Mixo library (gotten from my Rekordbox XML) to Engine DJ on the desktop app on Windows, I get strange behavior. "Exporting Engine DJ" loops endlessly, with no process in appearing in the top left. Furthermore, even if I delete the m.db file, Mixo doesn't create a new one. And if I leave my Engine DJ generated library there, Mixo doesn't overwrite it. All software is up to date and stuff have been working okay on the Rekordbox side so IDK what might be happening here.

If I click anywhere, the process just stops as if nothing happened (I think nothing is happening anyway, cuz there's no change in the file size in Engine Library\Database2\m.db).

The first time I click export, the app blinks for a fraction of a second. The second time I click, the endless process described above starts, and nothing happens.

An identical issue happens when I try to export an Engine DJ USB.

Seems like a permissions issue then. You’ll need to check that MIXO has full access to your files and folders and check that your antivirus is not blocking it etc.

You could also try running MIXO as an administrator.

Hi there, did you manage to get it working with permissions?

A
Well, it does something. Now there's a file. But Engine can't read it.

To get there, I had to update and run Mixo as an administrator. My Windows security setup has exceptions/whitelists for everything USB, so no issue there.

But anyway, using Mixo gives me nothing in that context, no? Importing directly from the Rekordbox XML into Engine should give me the same result anyway, right?

What version of Engine DJ are you using? It’s designed to work best with v4.

I'm working with the latest update, and I never came upon this information anywhere before. But yeah so latest is 4.3.4 from 2025. It's almost a year old.

There is an Engine DJ v4.5.0 update on their website. It should not matter but might be worth a try!

A
The website says 4.5 only matters for Rane One users. But I can try updating anyway later. So when you said "it works best with v4" you meant v4.5, not 4.0?

R
Ah yes you're right, apologies. 4.5 is only for Rane. By v4 I meant not v3 like the warning message you got regarding v3.4.0.

I'm still trying to replicate but haven't been able to find any issues! It's a bit of a strange one.

So just to recap - MIXO successfully created the m.db after running as an Administrator, right? But then Engine throws that error on launch?

One thing you could try is this:

1. Disconnect your USB drive.
2. Move the Database2 folder from Music/Engine Library to your desktop.
3. Export a playlist from MIXO.
4. Then run Engine DJ and see if it works.

Yes. And sure I can try at some point.

I may have found a possible solution to this anomaly - if it still isn't working for you please let me know!

Please try with this beta version. Maybe it will work!
