Am I doing something wrong? All tracks are doubled and the doubles date is today.

Morning! Happy Sunday. That doesn’t sound right. Is this for import?



Please could you add the FilePath column and compare the file paths for the duplicates.



They will be different and that’s why they’re duplicated but I’m not sure how that could happen.



Please let me know all the steps you took and what the file paths look like.

This is before and after pictures so you can see what's happening. When I direct import or even use the XML way this is what happens. Then my processor gets bogged down with trying to analyze 6700 tracks at once. Honestly all I want to do is update my star ratings and play count. Which seems I can't do that anymore. It used to work. I'm using the latest version of everything.

Take a look at the file path or location column (which ever it’s called), they must be different!

I'm using an external drive and I'm only pointing it to go to that external drive. When I get home I'll take a picture of the settings so you can see that it's all coming from the same place.

Here are the pic of the settings. All the right folders.

No in the track list I mean. There should be a column that shows the location of the track. There you can compare duplicate tracks to see how the file paths differ.

I don't understand why that would matter. The whole point of this is that I can use VirtualDJ and then I can merge the databases together so that everything I do in VirtualDJ mirrors itself in Rekordbox. It still doesn't discount the fact that I go from 6700 tracks to 13,400 and all my tracks are doubled and then the computer bogs down trying to analyze 6700 tracks that it considers this new tracks when I try to merge the two. It never did that before. Like I said before the only attribute I really want to merge is the star rating and the play count. If I can't do that this is pointless. Lucky I keep a backup of the master database so that I don't have to keep redoing it. So my question then would be can I use VirtualDJ upload the database to Mixo and then download it into Rekordbox DJ so that they're equal?

Duplication only occurs if the file paths are different. My suggestion to add the file path/location column would give you an insight into why the duplication is occurring, by comparing paths.



Perhaps the paths from VDJ are different to the paths for existing tracks in Rekordbox!



That’s not normally the case but it’s just an idea.



You could use MIXO’s Find & Replace to fix absolute paths to match a more relative format used by Rekordbox, for example.

Ok I got it. When I get home I'm going to check the original file locations. I think I know what happened. I'll update you when it's done.

Okay I was using two different partitions and I thought that was the reason but no. It's still doubled all my tracks. I look at the file path for the tracks and both tracks have the same location. But rekordbox now says I have two of the same thing on each song. Here's two pictures that show the same track twice in the same file location.

I tried the XML way and that doesn't double my tracks but it takes an hour to import once I'm in Rekordbox. It also is auto adding cue points that aren't there on every track. Am I the only person that's having these issues?

If Rekordbox is taking an hour to import your XML, you must have a very large library!



I haven’t seen this before.



If possible, please upload your original master.db before duplication to cloud storage and email me a shared download link so I can replicate? This will really help me understand the issue and see if I can find a solution for you.

Here's the file. I just don't understand why under XML export it adds five cue points to every song. So weird. That way used to work. But it takes so long. So the two problems are direct export adds a double. And XML import adds cue points that weren't there.

Ok I've replaced my master.db with yours, opened Rekordbox and can see 7,008 tracks.

Quit Rekordbox and imported into MIXO - all 7,008 tracks imported.

Then exported back to Rekordbox direct and checked - all fine, still 7,008 tracks!

Are there any steps you've taken, other than import direct and export direct? Did you relocate in between, change computers or anything else that is different to what I've just done?

Ok I think I solved the problem. The file path separator are both mac and Windows so they don't get matched:



I'm not sure what could cause this if you're using the same platforms, but I've added fix!

Okay now the tracks didn't double. But it's still adding cue points to all the tracks that weren't there. And it's not updating the play count. Here's a picture none of those tracks had cue points before the merge. And like the top track the 7-7 I've played twice and it still shows zero.

Can you check in MIXO? It should update play count using the data in MIXO.

Same for cues - if they've been imported from VDJ they'll get exported to Rekordbox.

You have both my databases you can check. I don't use cues. So I don't know where they're coming from. And yes and Mixo the play count is right

So here's the before and after pictures. As you can see in VirtualDJ there's no hot cues and the play count for 7-7 is 2. The next picture shows it in Mixo with no cues and the play count is at 2. The first Rekordbox picture is before the export. 7 -7 play count is zero and no cues. After the export 7 - 7 now has cues and play count is still at zero.

On the Import VirtualDJ page, did you turn off "Import only HOTCUES & LOOPS" per chance?

When turned off, MIXO will import everything, which includes all of these:



As for the play count, it looks like it's only inserted for new tracks but not updated so I'll get that fixed.

I get that but there's no hot cues to begin with. As you can see in the picture it puts an "a" randomly on each track. I mean funny thing is some of these are at the end of the track who would hot cue the last note of a track LOL.

Hmm I see. That is rather strange. I haven't been able to replicate that!

Let me try with some of my own tracks, since yours are obviously missing on my computer...

I think that's generated by Rekordbox. Probably during Phrase analysis?

Well then I guess my next question is how do I stop that? LOL Because like I said these are just Auto generated. So it must be a bug somewhere.

You could try leaving auto-analysis turned on but uncheck everything. That way tracks will get analysed but not cues get added:

That's exactly why how I have it. It was in one of your tutorial things to turn all that off. I'll try turning Auto analysis off too, to see if that works. If that's what you think it is. But why would analyzing a track cause it to add random cue points?

I don't know, it could be a Rekordbox thing! It's just a theory though since MIXO shouldn't add random cue point unless they exist in the db.

The cue points are definitely not in Mixo. The only appear when I export to Rekordbox.

Wondering if there's any update on this

The fix for the duplication caused by both mac and Windows style path separators in your particular database is now live in v1.90.

I'm not sure if we can do anything about the cue points.

Actually, one thing you could try is delete a track in Rekordbox where the unknown cue point was added, then manually drag/drop that track back into Rekordbox to see if the cue point still gets added during analysis.

I don't know if this is what fixed it or not I checked off import only hot cues and loops on VirtualDJ and copy hot cues to memory cues and those cues did not appear anymore. So now everything's working as it should. Thank you for your time

Wonderful! So no more rogue cues, playCount is now updated, duplicate tracks caused by the existence of both mac and Windows style path separators issue fixed... I think we've done well. Whoop! Have a great weekend :)
