the synch doesnt work

deathpectation started this chat 2 years ago

Hi there,

Sorry to hear that. It's possible temporary network dropouts make it seem like the data has not synced. If your devices aren't showing the changes from your other device, try Force Sync Check in Settings/Cloud.

Also, you only need to login to Dropbox on one device and they will all show connected. I have no idea why it's not possible to login on that device but you shouldn't need to.

Regarding the Watch Folder - MIXO will find the files and add them to the track list, then analyse them which is where the metadata comes from. If those files remain mostly blank it's because it can't read what ever those files are.

To check them, add the FilePath column to the track list and you'll be able to see which files they are.

Another user had a similar issue on Android and managed to resolve it by deleting MIXO, restarting the phone and installing MIXO again. Now it works! Maybe this will work for you too?

Your library should still be on your primary desktop device. If you've deleted it, there might be a backup of your most recent export in ~/Music/MIXO/Backups, depending on what type of export you did.

If you still have your library on your primary device, I recommend you try Settings/Debug "ReSync This Library". That will delete your synced data and resync everything from your desktop device.

Let me know if that's useful.

I havent deleted, the synch deleted it
but I have couple of question

- eventhough the tracks are uploaded on primary device they are recognised, on the secondary devices still missing, how is it possible?
- if there is a primary desktop device, when it comes to synchs why will the secondary device overwrite/delete the already uploaded tracks?

One more question

At the import why does mixo have to upload again the otherwise already uploaded music files to dropbox?

Hi there, I saw your review. We're also based in the UK so being Sunday evening I had to sleep before getting straight back on it this morning. I apologise for the delay in responding during this time.

Rest assured we've been trying to figure out what's going on! It's not straight forward as I'm sure you can appreciate. There are lots of variables in play.

I'm currently reviewing your synced data and will reply shortly.

Ok so it looks like you've done a full Reset MIXO, which also clears your synced data.

In regards to your questions:

- eventhough the tracks are uploaded on primary device they are recognised, on the secondary devices still missing, how is it possible?

If they have black dots on mobile, they are missing eg not uploaded. This can happen if there were network or storage errors during upload from desktop. If they don't have black dots but still can't be played, please let me know.

- if there is a primary desktop device, when it comes to synchs why will the secondary device overwrite/delete the already uploaded tracks?

The primary device is the device where you imported a track from. This is where the track will be uploaded from (to your cloud storage) so it can be played/downloaded on other devices. Other secondary devices cannot overwrite or delete that track unless you do 'Reset MIXO', or delete the track, because all changes are synced. If you want to reset a single device, you should use Reset LOCAL. Information is displayed in the warning modals about usage. If the secondary device is not showing the track or playlist etc, there are 2 possible causes - either it was not synced from the primary device (rare) or the secondary device needs to re-establish the sync connection, which you can do by clicking 'Force Sync-Check' in Settings/Cloud.

- At the import why does mixo have to upload again the otherwise already uploaded music files to dropbox?

Dropbox actually reuses the already uploaded tracks but unfortunately it's not particularly fast at doing so. This means while you should not get duplicates in your cloud storage, it still has to go through the process of uploading each track. In contrast, Google Drive actually handles this very well and is incredibly fast when it finds the track is already uploaded. OneDrive is probably just as slow as Dropbox.

Every user is critical to our small but growing app, which means we really want MIXO to work seamlessly for you. Although we work tirelessly for 7-days a week, sometimes we just can't respond immediately. I hope you understand.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, we are always happy to help!

I have tried everything as this thread example for this,
But gave up and I had reset mixo... back up is useless, because
- its recognise musictrack as tracklist files
- and again they eventually conflict with other devices

for future reference

if the watchfolder is switched to automatic upload and somebody wants upload more than 100 files it will conflict with synch on other devices at least with dropbox and new changes will be lost.
this app should be still in beta testing before commercial use

Understood. I think there was some bad data in one of your tracks that was causing sync to fail. I can see from the the server logs that it was crashing when trying to sync your tracks on Saturday evening. As a result, your library was not properly synced, which is why your other devices were not working.

Do you recall what actions you took on Saturday evening, such as an import (maybe from the watch folder) or editing track info etc?

If we can figure out which track(s) were causing the problem, we can figure out how to prevent this from happening.

In regards to your comments, what do you mean by "its recognise musictrack as tracklist files"? Could you clarify?

And also the watch folder should not cause conflicts unless you are watching a local Dropbox sync folder, which will cause a loop. You should only watch a separate folder where you manually add new tracks, such as your downloads folder. If you have further info that might hep me understand this issue please do let me know.

Ah you mean after importing from Traktor MIXO made a backup of your original NML but not a backup of changes you made later in MIXO?

I see your point. Most people use MIXO to export regularly, so the export acts as the backup, however, I think you're right - we should have an additional backup feature.

I'm working on this now.

Hmm that is strange behaviour. Are you just dragging and dropping single tracks into MIXO and then the duplicate appeared?

Where are the tracks located?

Can you add the filePath column and check if it's different from the one above?

Thanks!

Ah I see. When you import via Tracks (inc drag/drop) or Serato, M3U, CSV etc, MIXO quickly saves all the tracks to the database, using just the filePath (which is where we get the Type and initial name from). MIXO then goes through and analyses each track to read the metadata, cues, artwork and waveform data.

Attached is a demo video.

In your case, you cancelled the import before the first track had been analysed. However, the second track presumably has a slightly different filePath?

Did you drag/drop a folder containing tracks from your computer, or the individual tracks?

Could you please add the 'FilePath' column and expand it so I can see the paths for the good and bad tracks? Thanks!

MIXO v1.72 is now live!

We've excluded tracks beginning with "._" from getting imported via drag/drop or Watch Folder. That will fix the 'ghost tracks'!

We'll also soon be making changes to the server logic to try to clean before saving it, thus preventing sync errors.

Here's the full list of improvements:

I suspect there was still some missing synced data from the last time you had issues.

I think we prevented the looping issues server-side, but your local data may not have all synced.

I recommend you run Settings/Debug -> "ReSync This Library" on your primary device.

I suggested "ReSync This Library" because in your screenshots the library statistics were less in the second screenshot, which presumably was your second desktop device.

That's my recommendation. I have no idea how this could occur apart from left over issues from last time.

But if you've used Reset Local and everything looks fine now then that's good.
