SUB FOLDER OUTSITE MAIN FOLDERS IN PLAYLIST

dj440 started this chat 3 years ago

Hello, I purchased the Gold plan and I confess that I was disappointed. The app does everything it says it does, but something doesn't work very well. I have 28 folders of different styles and within these folders, other subfolders (as shown in the attached print). The problem is that these subfolders got mixed up with the main folders after analyzing all the folders on the computer, all together and it was a big mess.

Hi there,

Is your music stored locally and also on an external drive?

Serato saves crates into folders on different drives making it difficult to import into other software.

If that's the case you could try importing from the drive first.

Using the DJCU app, everything works, it just doesn't export the ratings. I bought MIXO to test, but in addition to the ratings, it also didn't work when I exported through Rekordbox, I had this problem with the subfolders.

I've just tried Mixo Traktor import and it's doing this too. A bunch of subfolders are at the top level, where they shouldn't be.

Can't see anything consistent about which ones. There's subfolders and playlists that should all be nested in folders listed at the root level in the MIXO import. It's quite a mess.

Please can you send me your Rekordbox xml or Traktor nml to test with and I'll see what I can do.

Feel free to email me a download link via anon@mixo.dj

ok so what I've found out is that the import goes bananas (moving playlists below in that structure to parent level) after it comes across an empty playlist.

Good detective work! Does the parse tree look correct on the Import page? Is it only after importing that the order is messed up?

Strange - I'm not seeing any ordering issues with complex libraries with lots of nested folders, even if the playlists are empty.

I've tested Traktor, VDJ, Rekordbox 6 and Serato.

There must be something unique about your library that's causing this, especially since you're seeing the same issue with different imports.

If you can send me your library in some format (NML, XML or create a zip containing your Subcrates/SmartCrates folder and neworder.pref file from Serato), I will gladly test and try to figure it all out for you.

The best option is to upload it to your cloud storage, then email me the shared link.

Thanks in advance!

it's stuffed on the Import page. Importing takes on the same stuffed look. I'll see if I can do some more tests with a clear collection to confirm the behaviour, for now it's broken wherever an empty playlist exists. Not sure if my large collection is corrupt in any way but removing those empty ones helps your Import.

Understood. The easiest way for me to try to solve this for you is to send me your main library for testing. Not the tracks, just the playlists etc.

So if it's Serato, copy your Subcrates and SmartCrates folders and also the neworder.pref file (this one's important) from Serato into a separate folder and create a zip of that folder, then upload it to your cloud storage and email me the shared link

I'll see what I can do!

Just to let you know that empty playlists should not cause a problem in normal circumstance - all of my tests involved nearly all empty playlists, so I suspect your library is in some way corrupt.

Do you have anything you can send me to test?

Are you using the latest version of MIXO, currently v1.45?

If yes, you can book a one to one screen share session where we can help debug the problem with you here:

Thanks!

In Serato I use ITCH SYNC to transform all my folders and subfolders into Crates. Everything works perfectly. Now I'm migrating to Rekordbox. On the Serato crates import screen in Mixo, this messy problem appears on this screen (attached print). Furthermore, the Tracks appear without rating when I import them into rekordbox. I will send my library by email. my email is anon@mixo.dj

I think the problem is your neworder file contains paths that do not match your crates - see the example attached.

It looks like ITCH SYNC has not converted this correctly and therefore MIXO is unable to correctly match your crates to your order file.

Perhaps you should try reordering your crates (temporarily) in Serato to force it to rebuild your neworder.pref file. You may need to do this inside every folder.

I tried this on the folders in my screenshot and it fixed them.

Once you've reordered every folder, quit Serato and try parsing in MIXO again (you need to reload the page each time you make a change).

This seems to be the only way since ITCH SYNC seems to have created a problem that would not normally exist.

I hope this info helps. Sorry there's no easy solution.

Hi Remko, I stripped back to a fresh collection and it seems easy enough to replicate the issue. As soon as there's an empty playlist along with one with tracks. Attached simple Traktor collection for your review.

Thank you. I've managed to fix this. The problem will still occur for MIXO NML exports due to self-closing tags.

We'll look into this, but for now at least exports from Traktor will work correctly.

The fix will be in the next release!

Hi there, yes I see the same. It looks like a problem with accented letters.

If you change "soirée" to "soiree" it should work correctly.

We will investigate this now - I'll update you when we have a fix.

Thanks for letting us know!

MIXO v1.48 is now live with a fix for Serato crates with special characters in the name.

Thanks for the feedback!
