Playlist Sync

I created a new playlist and it is in Mixo, when I sync to VDJ it never appears

Is there a specific way to resolve this or does Mixo treat m3u different?

I can sync using Lexicon with no issues

If you’re still using M3U playlists in VDJ, which is the old legacy format you need to turn on the setting for that at the bottom of Settings/Advanced.

Otherwise just make sure the export path is pointing to the database on the same drive where your tracks are located.

I added the playlist in Mixo, exported only that playlist.

It still does not appear in the VDJ folder list (see attached)

All tracks are on my external e:\ drive which is what I use for radio and DJ'ing. All of my apps (VDJ, Mico, Lexicon, Mixx etc) all point to the same mounted drive

Good shout but still the same. Is it because the playlists in VDJ are all held in a smart list folder?

No I don't think so, I'm not sure what's happening. But maybe! So that whole list in your screenshot is contained inside a smartlist folder?

Yeah that's the way I have always done it but am open to suggestions. I am willing to delete my library in VDJ, rebuils in Mixo and then reimport if I know the correct process

I'm not an expert with VDJ but I can't actually add lists inside a Filter Folder so not sure how that's possible?

MIXO exports to the MyLists folder but smart lists can't act as folders with inner lists.

So you would recommend a simple flat folder with playlists in Mixo and export that way yeah?

I think I imported from VDJ to Mixo right at the start which could be the issue?

You can certainly have folder nesting. Also, turn off legacy playlists in MIXO Advanced Settingsrtitngs because I can see you're not using them.

Ok I will clear Mixo and start from scratch and just build a few playlists and folders based on my structures, I will then import to VDj (backup my current database first LOL) and see if that works

I've just replicated! Some subfolders are not being populated correctly in VDJ. I can see them in the MyLists folder on my drive but not in VDJ.

Let me check the issue...

Ok I think I've fixed it! I'll send you over a beta. I'm also going to improve the whole export system to automatically detect and update the drives so you don't need to change the path.

I just deleted my mixo library so will try from scratch :-)

Here you go! The playlists should get created correctly now. Meanwhile I'm working on the bigger improvements but that might take a while.

Yes it probably has to analyse all the tracks to build the waveforms and import artwork etc. Especially if they're all on an external drive.

You can speed it up by increasing your Simultaneous Track Analysis slider in Advanced, then restart MIXO.

Hi

When I sync do I need to point the folder as per attached at the VDJ folder on my external drive where all my music is held?

I am looking at copying to my laptop drive but need to clear some space or delete duplicate files.

Yes, MIXO should have detected it to be honest! There should be an XML file located in the root of your external drive in a 'VirtualDJ' folder.

The documents location is old and probably not required any more.

Would you recommend a fresh clean start, and creating all the folders and playlists in Mixo then exporting to VDJ?

If so, would I just drag and drop e:\music\approved\a-z\a[artist][album] etc and my various playlists (m3u files)

Thoughts?

That's personal preference. Usually it's best to import from DJ software, where customised metadata and cue points and grids can be imported from a database, rather than importing available info from the track tags (which might not be the same). Also the databases contained ordered playlists and tracks, which you would have to do manually if drag/dropping directly from your computer.

I don't use cue points and grids so it's not an issue for me.

I tried to import one folder using selecting import and it does not appear in Mixo.

If you were starting from scratch, which order of steps would you follow? Bear in mid my collection is 70000 mp3 tracks and can get slow :-)

Sorry, I did a selective import from VDJ and selected one folder and sub folders to import

Was that the wrong way?
