Export Mixo Itunes

Wilfried started this chat a month ago

Bonjour,

You need to “Import Playlists” in iTunes, then select your XML.

See here where it explains how to do this:
https://www.mixo.dj/guides/mixo-to-itunes

I have never seen this error code! Can you try with one playlist or a different playlist and see if it works? Maybe there is a problem with a specific track or playlist.

Actually, maybe if you send me the XML with the error, I will try to figure it out for you.

Please send me your iTunes XML exported from MIXO and I will try to fix it.

Thanks!

Bonjour,

Thanks! You can attach it or upload your XML here:

Thanks! There were some tracks with really bad metadata - some comments had 'ASCII Control Characters' in them which Apple did not like.

I have removed them for you and uploaded the fixed XML here: https://www.mixo.dj/uploads

It's the file called "SET WILLOR MIXO-fixed.xml.zip" - you need to unzip it and then import into iTunes.

Once you have done that, I recommend you also import it into MIXO to fix the bad tracks and prevent it from happening again.

Bonjour,

Great questions!

There’s no way to flatten the folders on export but that’s a nice idea. I might add that!

As for import: if the XML matches your current MIXO library then no duplication will occur. It will just update everything to match the import.

Here's a beta with a new option 'Flatten folders on export' on the Export iTunes page:
https://www.mixo.dj/download/beta-v2/MIXO-2.18.2.dmg

I hope it works well for you :)

"Flatten folders on export" What do you mean?

If you select a playlist that is inside several folders and you turn this setting on, only the playlist is exported, not the folders.

Normal:

- Folder1
- - Folder2
- - - Folder3
- - - - Playlist1

With this new setting turned on:

- Playlist1

But just to let you know - iTunes always duplicates playlists when you import the same one again.

Right, I’ll give that a go tonight.
If it just duplicates the edited playlist or the updated version, that’s better – and it’ll be simpler than having the whole folder and all the playlists.

It doesn't work on a Mac. MacBook Pro with Ventura 13.7.8

And what would you recommend to improve my files, tags, etc. – the things that caused the import into iTunes to fail?

0

Oh sorry, you still have an Intel Mac? I will build you an intel version later.

It will also contain improvements to prevent the issue in future exports, you don’t need to do anything.

Ok please try this Intel version:
https://www.mixo.dj/download/beta-v2/MIXO-2.18.3-intel.dmg

I recommend you use the Tools -> Fault Fixer. This will clean any bad metadata in your library so you should no longer have a problem. :)
