Create waveform for Rane System One

I believe we discussed this earlier when the unit came out but when you use MIXO to export to engine USB, the waveforms are not coming over, for ever track i load it quickly builds the data to display the wave properly. If i switch to tri-band, nothing shows for it at all .

Ah yes I do recall. MIXO currently doesn’t support exporting RGB waveforms but triband should be fine. I don’t have a Rane controller to test. Do you possibly have a small m.db exported from your Rane version of Engine dj desktop you can send me?

And then the same from MIXO. I can then compare the differences!

I did an export of "Friday" from EDJ, copied to folder and then same folder from MIXO, both in this zip file

That's great, thanks! First thing I noticed was the MIXO export only has waveform data for 5 tracks.

Please can you confirm if these tracks show the waveform:

GOD WENT CRAZY - TEDDY SWIMS.mp3
FOREVER AND A DAY - LP GIOBBI.mp3
BIG DAY IN OUR LITTLE WORLD - ADAM DOLEAC.mp3
SHOW ME LOVE - DOCTOR Y.mp3
REIN ME IN - (RADIO EDIT - CLEAN) - SAM FENDER & OLIVIA DEAN.MP3

Please also confirm if all the tracks are analysed and display waveforms in MIXO.

I re-analyzed and exported all 21 tracks, attached new DB

in the Prime thats the 3 ban, Rane/Engine on the new system one use a new tri band and color waveform and the little waveform up top rebuilds the first time u load any track

So those 5 tracks that did have waveform data in the m.db were because you'd tried loading them in the controller before sending it to me?

Can you send me an export from MIXO before loading in the controller? The reason is the other tracks had no waveform data in the m.db, which means MIXO did not write it. Or it's possible that the Rane controller was deleting them on load but not sure about that.

Oh sorry just realised there was an attachment. This looks better - all waveform data is now there. Have you tested this export?

Also, I've just noticed that only 8 out of your 21 tracks in the m.db you export directly from Engine DJ have waveform data.

Can you check to see if all the tracks load waveforms instantly using the m.db from Engine DJ? I've attached the one you sent me so you can test that.

ill test tonight quick at my job but the tracks in engine are all analyzed and i know will load the waveform correctly, the databases i sent you never touched the controller, i formatted the drive, exported from the software and sent to you

and for some reason the chats are not showing right on your forum, it show "10 comments" up top but only 5 load, i have to use the chat window in bottomew right corner for it to work

Sorry about that, we're working on a server cache issue. Should be sorted soon hopefully!

Anyway, please do let me know if all 21 tracks show the waveform immediately because only 8 of them have the overview waveform data in the m.db! It's confusing since that's from Engine itself.

will do, ill test tonight if I have time at the event. what's interesting is comparing the 2 flash drives yours does not have the overview data folder that most likely contains the waveform overview needed if thats correct

Yeah those are the RGB waveforms which aren't supported yet.

ok last night at my party I did this quick during dinner, exported that same playlist, now 28 tracks cause I added a few, I analyzed all again in MIXO before export

I cut the audio from the party and talked on it so you can see the small wave to the right right builds each time I load a mixo drive track, the big wave is there though, then I plug in the EDH drive and all is good

Thanks, I've watched the video and I can see those are RGB waveforms. As I've said, RGB waveforms aren't exported at the moment only tri-band aka 3-band.

What happens if you set the controller to display tri-band waveforms instead - do they load instantly with the export from MIXO?

gotcha, thank you..

last time i tested (i will test and confirm tonight) when i switch to triband, none of the waves load at all, the big or small one, they dont even build the wave on the deck. i will test and show you later

Ok thanks that would be useful. Make sure they have waveforms and bpm values showing in MIXO first ;)

just tested and tried band loads correctly so you are right, just the color that is not supported yet. thanks for the info!

That’s great news! I’ll see if I can add the RGB waves at some point but they’re are totally different and seem to build on the fly anyway so no urgency.

yes definitely no rush especially since once they build on the fly they are saved so after a few parties most of the usual stuff i play are all built
