Serato : All waveform analysis are deleted after export

Patrick started this chat 3 years ago

Hi Patrick,

At the moment there's no way to export tracks that are not in crates because we can only export to the Subcrates folder. The rest is hidden in the database.

When you export to Serato, if you haven't made any changes to the track metadata or cues, just turn off the "Update ID3 tags" toggle. This should solve the problem with having to reanalyse the tracks.

However, I'm not sure why that would be happening, since the only tags updated are metadata and cues.

Hello,

I've tested my new setup this week-end and everhthing work well, but I noticed something : everytime I do a Serato Export, all the waveform analysis are deleted after export. I could choose just one playlist to export for example to export new tracks only, but if I make change on playlist structure or track order for example, It's much easier to export all, but I also need to re-analyse my entire library in Serato and it takes a few hours. Is it possible to keep the analysis intact (rewrite cues and tags) without overwriting Serato analysis? When I scan my track in Mixed In Key for example, I just do a file rescan in Serato and it refresh all the changes in tags.

Another thing I noticed : not all the tracks are exported to Serato, just ones who's are in a playlist. It's not a big deal for me. I just dragged the downloaded music folder into Serato and all the tracks have been added. But it would be awesome if Mixo could export all the single tracks too :)

Thank you!

Hi Remko,

Yeah, I don't understand why I need to re-analyse too. I just do a test with one crate and I turned off Update ID3 tags but it turned on automatically after the export.

It's on by default now so you'll need to turn it off, then it should be fine.

It turns on automatically even if it's already turned off. I attach a video to illustrate this.

Ah yes, ok I'll get that fixed. Probably needs to remain off by default after all.

Thanks again for the feedback!

Yeah, probably a better idea.

I do some research for the waveform analysis. Serato is storing waveform (and other data) informations inside audio files as ID3v2.4 General encapsulated object (GEOB) frames. So if Mixo overwrite all the ID3 tags, it erase the analysis information too by default. In Mixed In Key for example, it is possible to export cues, edit tags without overwriting Serato metadata. It would be great if Mixo can work like that too.

I find the information here : https://github.com/Holzhaus/serato-tags/blob/master/docs/fileformats.md

I hope it will help!

We actually preserve those tags when writing to ID3, so I'm not sure what's happening at this stage.

I'll have to investigate the analysis tag to see if it's somehow getting corrupt or something.

Thanks!

Wow, seeing the way you listen to the community and quickly update MIXO accordingly just convinced me to start using it with the Pro plan. Keep up the good work :)

Have you explored any specific settings or preferences within Serato or Mixo that might prevent waveform analysis from being deleted after export? Sometimes, there are options related to retaining analysis data during export. Tel U
